Slane Robberies Theft and Antisocial Behaviour
The Hill of Slane is one of the most beautiful and scenic parts of Ireland, steeped in ancient history and folklore. Visiting this remarkable location should be a magical experience, but instead those who arrive are welcomed by the sign, “BEWARE -THIEVES AT WORK”.
What a terrible advertisement for our country and for those hoping to enjoy some of our culture. Slane robberies and theft in Slane are two of the most serious issues facing the region's tourism industry today, emblematic of wider problems certainly but also individually troublesome.
These thefts and antisocial behaviour in Slane were brought to the attention of Peter Whelan of Aontú when two tourists visiting from abroad had their cars broken into and their passports and other valuables taken.
Many areas around Slane have a robbery problem, which was alleviated at Slane castle by the installation of a closed circuit television camera. Peter Whelan is working with Meath County Council to put an end to theft at Slane and the other associated areas. Contact us today to help out!
