Sarah O’Reilly Elected As Chair Of Cavan County Council
Aontú Councillor Sarah O’Reilly has been elected as Chair of Cavan County Council – a phenomenal achievement for both Sarah and the party. Sarah is the party’s first Cathaoirleach, and the achievement is testament to the Trojan work Sarah has put in on behalf of her constituents and the county.
Councillor O’Reilly topped the poll in the Bailieborough-Cootehill constituency in last year’s local elections. Sarah left Fianna Fáil over the issue of abortion, displaying great personal courage and sticking to her principles! During her time as a Councillor and even before, Sarah has consistently fought on behalf of farmers, nurses and teachers for fair pay and vindication of their rights. She has continuously fought to bring jobs and investment to Cavan, as well as fighting to protect existing resources and services such as in Cavan General hospital.
Undoubtedly, Sarah will bring the same determination, dedication, and fight to her role as Chair of Cavan County Council and will continue to fight for the rights, resources and protection of her constituents.
