A grassroots community group has been established to campaign for improved services for patients and their families across Cavan Monaghan
The Cavan Monaghan Campaign Group is centred on five core asks — Safe Healthcare, Accountability, Transparency, Better Access to Treatment and Commitment to improvement.
Olivia Larkin, Co-Founder of the group says:
“We want to hear from the people to see their lived experiences of healthcare services in Cavan Monaghan that matter.
“Since we started our group, it has become more apparent as to why it is so important. We have had scores of people contacting us with their stories. However, we need more than anecdotal evidence. We want to collate real data, real evidence of patterns and issues that are arising. As well as validating good practise, we need to see what is working well and what clearly isn’t. We will be conducting a survey at our public meeting, which will provide us with a better picture, and use it to push for better .
There is strength in numbers and we need to advocate for better and lobby our elected representatives who haven’t been as vocal on the issue as they could and should be .
I would urge people to turn out for our inaugural public meeting this Thursday at 7.30 pm in the Pastoral Centre, Monaghan Town. We want people to have their say and share their experiences.
It is only by coming together that we will improve services for all”.
