The Aontú leader said: “This far-left bill creates a third gender. Why stop at three? Such ideology is causing damage and health services across the world are reversing at speed from it.”
Speaking in the Dáil on the Non-Binary and Intersex Recognition Bill, Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín said: “It is really important that we have a society that is based on science and evidence. Gender ideology as represented by the Bill from the far left today is anti-science and anti-evidence.
“Proponents of this bill think that they are fighting on the latest front of human rights, but in reality, they are doing enormous damage to children and to women.
He added: “The Gender Recognition Act is an extremely damaging piece of legislation. Instead of repealing that law, this bill goes further and create a third gender. Why stop at three? If you are going to ignore sex chromones in every single cell in every human being surely the gender choices should be unlimited?
“The Tavistock crisis highlighted the damage that this type of gender ideology does to children. Health services across the western world are reversing at speed from this type of gender affirmation.
“All major sporting organisations are reversing from the damaging gender ideology that put men competing into women’s sports. The people are oppose this ideology too. By taking these anti science positions, they are doing damage to the most vulnerable.”
