Oct 14, 2025

The hugely successful event surpassed all expectations with crowds arriving well ahead of the official opening time.

Bargain hunters delighted in finding rails and rails of new and nearly new clothes and accessories with prices starting from as low as €5 .

The event, organised by Aontú Cllr Ellen Troy was the first of a series of similar pop ups organised by Aontú in aid of the besieged people of Gaza.

Cllr Troy says

“It was just an incredibly heartening event .

People were so, so generous ,both with the beautiful clothes they donated for free and those they bought! .

They have been so touched by the terrible plight of the people of Gaza who have been stripped of their homes, their hope, their lives as they knew them, their dignity and their their families. They have been v\brutalised and dehumanised .They have been absolutely shattered.

This money that we in Aontú have raised will go to the aid effort to help them.

Every single cent will go to the Irish Red Cross in Gaza.

I, together with all the members of our ‘Martin Savage Cumann’ members would like to warmly thank the people of Castleknock and the wider Dublin West region who supported this so generously as well as our incredible Aontú members .

They were just fantastic”.

The next Pop Up and Shop for Gaza is to take place in Dún Laoghaire .
