“More than money; The poverty of exclusion” a national poster campaign was launched today (Tuesday 14th October) by ‘Cothrom’ to highlight the many ways disabled people are excluded from society .

Cothrom ,the Irish for ‘Opportunity, fairness, equality and balance’ is co-founded by well-known advocate and disability activist ,Dr Margaret Kennedy and Michael O’ Dowd.

The striking poster highlights how Ireland continues to fail disabled people through systemic neglect, underfunding, and a lack of meaningful reform.

The visual piece explores the deeper dimensions of poverty, not only the absence of income but the poverty of exclusion, invisibility, and wasted potential. Each image represents a lived reality: the person who cannot access a personal assistant, the young adult excluded from work or education, and the older person left waiting years for essential care.

The posters will be distributed across libraries and public buildings in Cavan and Monaghan as well as some schools .
