Cllr Peter O’Donoghue joined the party in January 2026.  Peter represents the people of Fermoy on Cork County Council, and was elected in 2024 with almost 1,800 votes.  A keen community activist, Peter is an active member of Fermoy Rugby Football Club, where he used to play, and where he now coaches, and helps out with committee and volunteer work. He started the Fermoy Car Boot Sale, a fundraiser for the club that also benefits the town during the summer months.

Coming from a family and area very much steeped in everything to do with horses, Peter also has a keen interest in horse racing and other equestrian sports. He played hurling and football with Kilworth GAA club in his youth and as his son is now an underage player with Bride Rovers GAA Club, he has a keen interest and does fundraising work for the club.
