Aontú Leader Peadar Tóibín has joined the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly and the North-South Interparliamentary Association this week, extending the party’s focus on all-Ireland issues and reunification.
Commenting on the move, Deputy Leader & East Derry rep, Gemma Brolly said:
“As a republican party, we are continually focussed on what we can do to address the impacts of partition. Joining the North-South Interparliamentary Association gives us a further mechanism to work within that will help us build relationships and align our priorities with our membership of the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement Committee in the Dáil.
By joining the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly, we can build relationships with likeminded MP’s, share information on issues of mutual interest and use our influence to progress the cause of reunification.
These new memberships will allow us to take our message to a wider audience and continue to address the barriers to unity.”
