“Though Storm Claudia was intent on causing chaos last Friday across Dublin last Friday (15th November ) it was no match for the hardy folk in Aontú who held their third fundraising event for Gaza in Ongar .
Organised by local Aontú Cllr Gerard Sheehan, the event was the third in Dublin to raise funds for the besieged people of Gaza.
Not forgetting hardworking local charities, Cllr Sheehan included the Croi Mhaire Foodbank which collects food for people in D15 who are grappling with the biting cost of living crisis.
Cllr Sheehan said
“While the weather was most definitely against us, the people of D 15 were their usual generous and giving selves and they turned out despite the desperate weather conditions. We had some gorgeous clothes and accessories and raised just over €1,000 which will be shared equally between Croi Mhaire and the Irish Red Cross in Gaza”
This fundraiser was the third in a series of fundraising events organised by Aontú. Proceeds from the first two in Castleknock and Dún Laoghaire go entirely towards the humanitarian effort in Gaza.
In all, €9,350 has been raised across the three events.
