“Political Games of Stormont Parties Jeopardising People’s Health” – Cllr Doyle
Aontú Cllr Emmet Doyle have criticised the impact the Stormont deadlock is having on the health care system.
Speaking today, Cllr Doyle said “The political deadlock caused by the Stormont parties is preventing essential funding being injected into the health care system. We’re already seeing the tangible impact of this with long waiting lists and vacant posts. This is putting medical staff under immense pressure and risking the lives of patients.”
Doyle continued “A recent RCP report found that there was an 11-year waiting list for hip replacements. This is unacceptable. The Stormont parties are play playground politics while people’s quality of life is rapidly diminishing. Our health care system is lagging far behind neighbour health care systems.”
“This only re-affirms the need for Aontú’s proposed Stormont reform. At minimum, MLAs should not be taking a wage if they’re not willing to do the work the people of the North sent them to Stormont to do.”
