“It Is Urgent That Limerick Get an Elective Hospital” – Sarah Beasley
Aontú Representative Sarah Beasley has called for an elective hospital for Limerick and the Mid-West
Speaking today, Sarah Beasley said “Patients in Limerick and the Mid-West desperately need an elective hospital. Figures revealed to Aontú through parliamentary questions show that the ED at UHL accounts for 83% of all inpatient bed days, limiting capacity for elective activity. As a result, to account for increasing demand for emergency care, elective procedures are regularly cancelled, waiting lists are long and are growing”
Beasley Continued “This is only one example of government neglect of the medical needs of Limerick and the Mid-West. Massive overcrowding in Limerick hospital is stripping patients of their human dignity and putting our elderly and most vulnerable people into horrific situations”
“I cannot stress enough how important an elective hospital is for Limerick and the Mid-West. People’s lives are being servery limited because they can’t access elective procedures. Government inaction is causing immense suffering and pain across our community” Concluded Sarah Beasley
