Farm Safety Week: Aontús Becky Kealy With Norma Rohan (Embrace FARM)

"Yesterday, I had a zoom meeting with Norma Rohan, who along with her husband Brian are the founders of EMBRACE FARM.

Embrace Farm is a Farm Accident Support Network. They are one of its kind in that they are the ONLY support group for people who have been affected by farm accidents in Ireland.
Up to their establishment there was no help or support for families in this situation.

I am so impressed with the work that they do, here is our recorded zoom meeting.

This week is Farm Safety Week, we are receiving a lot of information on the do's and don't of Farm safety but this is a part that isn't spoken about.

I hope that some of my Rural Constituents within farming communities will benifit from this video and if anyone is sufferning or grieving in Silence, please reach out to Embrace Farm. "

This farm safety week, Aontú Rep for Cork North West Becky Kealy Aontú wanted to do something different to try help rural constituents of hers in the farming communities, and not just repeat the generic messaging so often heard every time this week comes around.

A massive thanks to Norma Rohan from Embrace FARM who sat down with Becky to talk about their amazing work to support those who have been affected by farm accidents in Ireland!

The Irish political system is radically broken

In Ireland the vast majority of elected representatives put a finger in the air to check which way the political wind is blowing. They have one eye on their leaders – seeking brownie points – and another eye keeping their seat safe. If elected reps shut up and do as they’re told, they are promoted; if they stand up for what they believe in, they are demoted. No wonder we have the political class we have. No wonder one point one billion euro is being buried in a hole under the National Children’s Hospital and that Stormont is in stalemate.

Throughout Ireland, many people are now afraid to say what they feel, many are afraid to respectfully engage on a range of different topics. Many feel there is a new censorship and a new political correctness in Ireland, that opposition to the establishment is being deleted.

Respectful opposition is not the enemy. Respectful opposition is a critical element of a functional democracy. Aontú will have the backbone to stand up, without fear, for you.
