Cuireann Aontú Fáilte Uí Cheallaigh roimh tús “Seachtain na Gaeilge 2021!”

Bíonn an t-am seo speisialta gach bliain san fhéilire Éireannaigh agus idirnáisiúnta ach I mbliana, níos mó ná bliain ar bith eile, tá sé an-tábhachtach agus cuidiúil ar dteanga dhúchais a chur chun cinn tríd gníomhaíochtaí dhearfacha agus sultmhara, ag tabhairt cúis dúinn le céiliúradh ach chomh maith leis sin le machnamh agus le pleanáil do na blianta romhainn.
Tá Aontú tiomanta do mhargadh nua a fhorbairt don Ghaeilge. Ba mhian linn go mbeadh an Ghaeilge i réim arís mar theanga labhartha ar fud na Gaeltachta agus i bpobail fud fad na hÉireann. Ba mhaith linn go mbeadh a fhios ag teaghlaigh atá ag smaoineamh ar a gcuid páistí a thógáil le Gaeilge go bhfuil todhchaí gheal bhríomhar i ndán don teanga. Cuideoimid le líon na gcainteoir agus na bpobal Gaeilge a fhorbairt go suntasach agus déanfaimid seo mar tír amhaín le chéile, tuaisceart, deisceart, iarthar agus oirthear.
Mar a dúirt Pádraig Mac Piarais “Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.” Tá Aontú tiomanta le stádas teanga agus anam ár dtíre a fheabhsú agus a fhorbairt.

Aontú greatly welcomes the beginning of “Seachtain na Gaeilge 2021!”

This is always a very important time of year in the Irish and international calendar, but this year more than ever it is essential to promote our native language positive and enjoyable activities, to give cause for celebration but also for contemplation and planning ahead.
Aontú is committed to the development of a new Irish language deal. We seek the restoration of the Irish language as a spoken language throughout the Gaeltacht and communities throughout the island of Ireland. We want families considering raising their children in Irish to know that Irish has a bright and vibrant future. We will help significantly grow number of Irish language speakers and communities and we will do this on an All-Ireland basis, North, South, East and West.
As Pádraig Pearse said “A Country without a language is a country without a soul.” Aontú is determined to both improve and develop the status of the language and the soul of our nation.

The Irish political system is radically broken

In Ireland the vast majority of elected representatives put a finger in the air to check which way the political wind is blowing. They have one eye on their leaders – seeking brownie points – and another eye keeping their seat safe. If elected reps shut up and do as they’re told, they are promoted; if they stand up for what they believe in, they are demoted. No wonder we have the political class we have. No wonder one point one billion euro is being buried in a hole under the National Children’s Hospital and that Stormont is in stalemate.

Throughout Ireland, many people are now afraid to say what they feel, many are afraid to respectfully engage on a range of different topics. Many feel there is a new censorship and a new political correctness in Ireland, that opposition to the establishment is being deleted.

Respectful opposition is not the enemy. Respectful opposition is a critical element of a functional democracy. Aontú will have the backbone to stand up, without fear, for you.
