Colm Quinn

Palmerstown-Fonthill LEA - South Dublin County Council

Colm Quinn grew up and still lives in the Foxborough area, running a successful carpentry & flooring business. He has employed many people from the area. Colm is a dedicated husband and father.

He loves many types of sport and has been involved with local GAA team Lucan Sarsfields for many years as well as local soccer teams. Colm has an immense passion for the great outdoors and has been involved in starting up and running hill walking groups. Originally Colm got involved in politics as a young man working on building sites in London during the 80s, where he canvassed and marched with local groups to establish better working conditions.

He believes that the young people of our area need more jobs, housing and infrastructure to keep them in the community and that the cost of living for families in our community is being ignored by our government. Colm believes Aontú have the will and fire in their bellies to action change for the better in this country, and he is proud to be a member of the Party.

Colm's Local Election Leaflet

The Irish political system is radically broken

In Ireland the vast majority of elected representatives put a finger in the air to check which way the political wind is blowing. They have one eye on their leaders – seeking brownie points – and another eye keeping their seat safe. If elected reps shut up and do as they’re told, they are promoted; if they stand up for what they believe in, they are demoted. No wonder we have the political class we have. No wonder one point one billion euro is being buried in a hole under the National Children’s Hospital and that Stormont is in stalemate.

Throughout Ireland, many people are now afraid to say what they feel, many are afraid to respectfully engage on a range of different topics. Many feel there is a new censorship and a new political correctness in Ireland, that opposition to the establishment is being deleted.

Respectful opposition is not the enemy. Respectful opposition is a critical element of a functional democracy. Aontú will have the backbone to stand up, without fear, for you.
