Rosemarie is a native of Foremass, Sixmilecross, where her family have lived for centuries. She is the third generation of her family to be involved in local politics – her grandfather, Willie John Shields was an Independent councillor on Clogher Rural Council and his son Seamus served as a councillor on Omagh District Council for 23 years.A former pupil of St Colmcille’s Primary School, Carrickmore and Loreto, Omagh, she then studied a degree in Irish Studies at Queen’s University, Belfast.She works as an accountant in Tyrone and is acutely aware of the challenges faced by local business, in particular, the farming sector.She is a widow with three teenage children. As a sitting councillor, Rosemarie has worked tirelessly and with dedication and passion over the years to improve, promote and develop her DEA and address the concerns of her constituents. She believes that the people of Mid-Tyrone need and deserve decent infrastructure, including roads and broadband, properly-resourced and equitable service provision, particularly the front line of our education and health service.
