Aontú to host Beef Plan Movement in Leinster House next Thursday - Tóibín
Following the publication of Aontú's Equitable Beef Pricing Bill, Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín TD will host a Beef Plan Movement delegation in Leinster House on Thursday 26th September.
Speaking today, an Teachta Tóibín stated:
"Aontú fully supports the right of farmers to earn a living. As a society we have to ensure that no one is squeezed out by the power of factories and supermarkets.
"For the past few months, we have been proactively engaged with farmers and rural communities on the issue of beef prices.
"To date, the government has failed to deliver a just and sustainable outcome on this matter. Therefore, Aontú will introduce our bill to the Dáil. This bill seeks to ensure that factories and supermarkets are obliged to pay farmers a minimum price for their product.
"We hope that other parties and independents will work constructively with Aontú on this matter to bring about a fair and sustainable resolution."
