Another 15 years of the 5 Executive Parties? No Thanks. Vóte for Real Change. Vótáil Aontú # 1

Speaking in advance of Election Day, Aontú Deputy Leader & Candidate for Fermanagh South Tyrone, Cllr Denise Mullen Has called for a vote for change, a vote for Aontú – stating that if you keep voting the same way, how will things ever change?

Cllr Mullen: “We have had 15 years of these 5 Executive parties in power. They have delivered a collapsed Executive and North South Ministerial Council, a Housing waiting list that has doubled to 44,000”.

“They have put 1 in 7 of us on hospital waiting lists for over a year and created a £750m hole in the education budget. We have also seen abortion legalized up until birth for children with disabilities. This is heart breaking. If we keep voting the same way how is anything going to change”.

The DUP are proving, without a shadow of a doubt that the north is not working for Nationalists. Increasingly many Unionists now feel the same way. Aontú is only party contesting these elections looking to reform the democratic institutions, to make them work for the people.

Aontú is now the only all Ireland party that supports the objective of the proclamation, to Cherish All the Children of the Nation equally. Aontú is now the only all Ireland party that supports the Human Right to Life for everyone. Aontú won more votes than People before Profit and the Greens in the last Westminster election. During this election our poll figures have increased. Our membership in the north has doubled in the last 8 weeks.  We are fielding 12 excellent candidates and we will be competing for seats in a number of constituency.

At our core we believe that we all live under the same sky. We are all responsible for each other, no matter how small, weak or vulnerable we are. Only Aontú will make sure that no mother or child will be left behind.

Seasann Aontú ar son ár dteanga, ár gcúltúr agus ár náisiún. Tá muid ag fanacht ó 2006 le haghaidh Reachtaíocht na Gaeilge agus le haghaidh cearta teanga agus fós níl sé ann. Tá Aontú céad fan gcéad taobh thiar den fheachtas chún an Reachtaíocht a cuir chun chinn.

On May 5th Vote send the strongest message possible to the Stormont establishment. Vote for real change, Vótáil Aontú number 1.”

The Irish political system is radically broken

In Ireland the vast majority of elected representatives put a finger in the air to check which way the political wind is blowing. They have one eye on their leaders – seeking brownie points – and another eye keeping their seat safe. If elected reps shut up and do as they’re told, they are promoted; if they stand up for what they believe in, they are demoted. No wonder we have the political class we have. No wonder one point one billion euro is being buried in a hole under the National Children’s Hospital and that Stormont is in stalemate.

Throughout Ireland, many people are now afraid to say what they feel, many are afraid to respectfully engage on a range of different topics. Many feel there is a new censorship and a new political correctness in Ireland, that opposition to the establishment is being deleted.

Respectful opposition is not the enemy. Respectful opposition is a critical element of a functional democracy. Aontú will have the backbone to stand up, without fear, for you.
